General Privacy Policy

Compass respects the dignity and privacy of each individual and group, and is committed to protecting your privacy. We will periodically review the appropriateness of this privacy policy and may make changes here as necessary.

Personal Information

Personal information is collected only with permission, and information is used only for the purpose for which it is collected. Information submitted to Compass is confidential and kept secure at all times.

Compass does not automatically gather personal information; you can anonymously access our website. Personal information is only obtained if you supply it voluntarily, i.e. contacting us via email, entering a contest, providing feedback (unless noted anonymous) or registering for programs or events. The amount and type of personal and account information we collect from you depends on your activities.

Telephone contact information will not be recorded, kept or disclosed without the explicit permission of the person involved. Media contact information is kept at the request of and with permission of the contact.

Financial Information from donations and other revenue generating projects will be kept confidential. Financial records are only kept as long as business or legal requirements specify. Compass does not enter into contracts with any third party agencies which share information with other groups or sell lists.

Purposes

We use personal information in a limited number of ways, foremost to complete services you have requested, respond to communication from you, contact you, and as otherwise described in this policy.

To establish and maintain responsible relationships with our staff, partners, and donors

  • To manage, develop and enhance Compass programs and services
  • To understand and assess client needs and preferences
  • To acknowledge gifts, issue tax receipts, and other administrative requirements including information requests
  • To better understand the changing needs of communities we serve
  • To meet legal, regulatory and contractual requirements.

Examples of specific situations include:

Employment
If you complete an application form for employment, we will use the personal information you provide to contact you and to perform administrative activities related to the selection process and subsequently your employment.

Contests/Prize Draws
If you participate in our contests we will use your information to contact you in the event that you win.

Links on our sites may lead to sites outside of our organization which may have different privacy policies. We do not take responsibility for the privacy practices of other organizations. It should be clear that you are leaving our site when using these links. You may need to read the privacy statements on those sites to ensure that it matches your preferences.

Internal Information
Information concerning staff, volunteers, board members is kept in secure environments and is not shared outside of the administrative staff or the Board President.

Feedback
Quotes/feedback in regards to workshops/presentations are not credited to the author without the explicit permission of the person responsible for said quotes, etc.
