SUDBURY, Ont., – This past weekend, the “Pitching In for Kids Mental Health” charity slo-pitch tournament successfully raised over $11,500 to support child and youth mental health services provided by Compass.
The funds raised will be used to offer bursaries to young individuals, helping to alleviate some of the financial burdens for youth facing mental health challenges associated with post-secondary education as well as support Compass’ “Client Experience Fund.” This fund aims to enhance the lives of clients accessing mental health services through various means, such as providing wellness kits, school supplies, recreational activities or equipment and addressing other clinically-identified needs.
“We are incredibly grateful for the community’s support and the success of this event,” said Megan Dumais, Director of People and Organizational Health at Compass. “The funds raised will make a substantial difference in the lives of young people facing mental health challenges, providing them with opportunities and resources they might not have had otherwise. Thank you to everyone who pitched in for this cause.”
In its first year, the event saw an impressive turnout, with seven teams competing for the championship title. The winners of the tournament, Reddi-Vend, showcased exceptional talent and sportsmanship, securing the top spot beating Ball Too Well (Azilda’s Version) in the final game.
Compass extends heartfelt gratitude to all the participants and volunteers who made this event a success as well as our sponsors including BESTCH, Anmar, Techinca Mining, Azilda Lions Club, Greater Sudbury Police Service Chief’s Youth Advisory Council and Glencore Canada. Your contribution will make an important difference in the lives of many young people, helping them reach their full potential.
