Based in Sudbury, Ontario, Compass is the Lead Agency for child & youth mental health services for the districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin. Directly reporting to the Director of People and Corporate Services, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for the management of day-to-day operations and activities of the Human Resources function at Compass. The Human Resources Manager requires a strong leader with a thorough understanding of a variety of Human Resources functions, their impact on the organization, and how to apply them in a manner consistent with broader organizational strategy and our guiding principles.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for investigating and resolving employee complaints, labour and employee relations issues and workplace accidents
- Provides support in collective bargaining
- Lead the implementation of new collective agreements
- Provide guidance and assistance to all levels of management
- Responsible for recruiting personnel at all levels of the organization
- Responsible for developing a talent management strategy
- Responsible for the salary administration plan
- Responsible for administering the benefits and pension plan for all eligible employees.
- Provide direction to employees regarding health and safety matters.
- Act as a resource for supervisors, managers and employees
- Lead initiatives related to improving the employee experience with strong focus on culture work and equity, diversity and inclusion
- Develop and deliver training programs to employees
- Implement HR performance metrics
- Prepare and maintain current job descriptions
- Ensure awareness of changes in provincial legislation related to HR matters
- Manage and lead HR related projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field. College diploma in Human Resources may be considered when combined with experience and Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation.
- CHRP or CHRL designation is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience. Must also have relevant work and comparable experience that includes expertise in human resources, administration, and supervision of others. Specific experience working in a human resources generalist capacity is required.
- Oral and written proficiency in English is required; French oral and written proficiency is a highly regarded asset.
- Strong management and project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Evidence-based decision-making skills.
- Self-directed with the proven ability to work independently.
- Must have a valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
