Based in Sudbury, Ontario, Compass is the Lead Agency for child & youth mental health services for the districts of Sudbury and Manitoulin. Reporting to the Manager of System Performance, the CYW Supervisor is responsible for providing clinical supervision to designated staff. The Supervisor is also responsible for developing and enhancing core competencies as identified by the agency to meet responsibilities in delivering core and auxiliary services. The CYW Supervisor will achieve results through observations, mentoring, coaching, teaching, leading, modeling, and holding others accountable. The incumbent must display continued dedication to the enhancement of clinical skills, competence, and confidence.
DUTIES
- Provide direct clinical and administrative supervision and complete required documentation on supervision sessions provided to front line staff, as assigned.
- Ensure service delivery adheres to professional standards recognized by the related Ministry, Accreditation, Quality Assurance and applicable professional disciplines.
- Assign cases to staff and provide local waiting list management as required.
- Provide direct clinical services to children, youth and their families, when required, to support front line staff.
- Develop and implement innovative, evidenced, and informed programming to meet client needs, in consultation with the Manager.
- Respond to complaints by clients or staff in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Consider and discuss professional development opportunities for staff and oneself.
- Provide coaching and mentoring with timely follow-up as required.
- Conduct file audits and ensure the proper storage of records for the purposes of client confidentiality.
- Chair team meetings and deliver in-services.
- Complete all documentation on clients as required.
- Provide the Manager with operational information, community needs and advice regarding service direction as requested.
- Provide leadership and participate on internal and external agency committees.
- Participate in strategic planning and other agency planning activities.
- Participate in relevant research activities and program evaluation.
- Participate in performance appraisals at times designated by Compass policy.
- Take lead role or participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
- Represent the agency in the community to facilitate collaborative relationships.
- Participate on local community planning committees related to children’s mental health issues.
- Contribute to community education through presentations to professionals and community groups.
- Support Programming across Compass and the Youth Wellness Hub during regular evening shifts. Flexible hours that will match service provision will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred candidates will possess a Child and Youth Work Diploma with 10 years clinical experience, with demonstration of supervisory qualities through leading others or taking on greater responsibility. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.*
- Minimum qualifications for this candidate are to possess a Child and Youth Work Diploma with 7 years of experience.
- In addition, candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in mental health, and documented leadership experience in a professional healthcare setting.
- Registration in a with professional association is encouraged.
- Familiar with evidence informed practices, including SNAP (Stop Now and Plan), FRIENDS Anxiety Group, Caregiver skills building, Attachment Theory, Behaviour Management and work from a Trauma Informed lens.
- Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork and openness.
- Demonstrate supervisory and mentoring skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent clinical Child and Youth Work assessment and intervention skills.
- Competency and dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – including cultural differences within the organization and the community.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communication skills in both official languages (English and French) is preferred.
